September 26th Ida Maria returns in full force with Seven Deadly Sins + 3, a riotous, confessional, and deeply personal punk-rock opus that confronts our ugliest truths with blistering honesty and a wicked grin.
Written and recorded with her longtime core band - Jan Ole Kristensen, Ruben Fredheim Oma and Alf Magne Hillestad, — alongside producer Martin Selen and engineer Hans Petter Heggli, Seven Deadly Sins + 3 is as immediate as it is fearless. From the volcanic fury of "STILL ANGRY" (co-written with Finnish rocker Joonas Parkkonen) to the unhinged groove of "LAZY", a brutally honest take on shame, duty and the paradox of living in a world that preaches modesty while idolizing fame and fortune. As such each track is a sin dissected, and shouted out loud with no remorse.
DO NOT expect a sermon! — this is Ida Maria. It’s punk rock, baby.
“I’ve dabbled with sin, I’ve dabbled with religion — both can be dangerous if taken too far,” she says. “This project isn’t about casting stones. It’s a shopping list of ‘been there, done that.’ You can’t sin all day and all night — it’s exhausting.” - Ida Maria
The core idea for the album sparked in Helsinki during a writing session with Topi Latukka and Aleksi Kiskinen where the track “More” was born and sparked a brand new fire in Ida Maria. “More” kicked the doors open: a bold anthem of hunger, ambition, and the human itch for excess. It set the tone for an album that doesn't just name sins — it chews on them, spits them out, and sometimes laughs in their face. Neither the sinner, nor the people who judge get away when Ida Maria rips through the paradoxes and the moral two facedness of our society.
Seven Deadly Sins + 3 also features guest performances from legends like Sivert Høyem (Madrugada), Dave Krusen and Tommy Akerholt, adding unexpected textures to an otherwise raw and direct sonic assault. A punk-rock shapeshifter who’s flirted with every subgenre from riot girl to glam rock, Ida Maria describes her sound simply as: “A completely bonkers single mom dabbling with forces she doesn’t understand. A punk rocker trying to explain some things.”
For nearly two decades, Ida has set her own rules, building a legacy that resists every attempt at softening her edges. From her breakout debut Fortress Round My Heart to viral anthems like “I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked,” her music has always offered a kind of sonic confessional — messy, bold, and impossible to ignore.
“Music is sacred,” she says. “I don’t cast spells without a reason. I know its power.”
Born and raised in Nesna, northern Norway — a tiny coastal town where self-entertainment was survival — Ida Maria’s roots run deep. It’s this grounding, combined with her global experience, that fuels her latest record. She’s not just singing about sin — she’s turning it into poetry, philosophy, and punk-rock theology. And as always, she’s not holding back.
“This is my comment on the world and myself. I'm not trying to project my sins — just have a fun discussion about them.”
With Seven Deadly Sins + 3, Ida Maria offers more than just a rock album — it’s a confessional booth, a punch in the gut, and a kitchen-table chat with a friend who’s seen some things and still comes back with laughter, love, and rock’n’roll
