WHILE THE COUNTRY IS RENOWNED FOR ITS BLACK METAL, INSENSE HAS STEERED AWAY ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE TO CORPSE PAINT AND SATAN WORSHIPPING IN MONOCHROME FORESTS. THEIR SOUND IS ALL THEIR OWN.
“Insense fuse the relentless mechanical assault of Fear Factory and the seething hardcore aggression of Hatebreed with phat Entombed-style grooves.” –Metal Hammer
“Insense’s biggest strength is their song-writing skills. All of the tracks on Burn in Beautiful Fire are examples of high-quality metal.”
- Keith Anderson, thenewreview.net (Apr 14, 2011)
“Insense [...] shows that they are not only Norway's probably most sympathetic band, they are also one of the best in the genre.”
Kim Klev, Lydverket (Jun 29, 2011)
“The Oslo collective is one of Norway's most complete metal bands these days.”
Torgrim Øyre, Dagbladet
“This record is full of catchy riffs, [...] beautiful melodies and Hjelm’s incredible vocal abilities that range from desperate screams to macho Hardcore vocals and enchanting melodic patterns. And just imagine all this dynamic accompanied by Bergstrand’s incredible work behind the console! Yeah, this is a hard hitting Metal monster!”
Yiannis Dafopoulos, Metal Kaoz (Jun 14, 2011)
Insense is something of a well-kept secret in the Norwegian metal scene. They’ve been compared to everything from Machine Head to Dillinger Escape Plan, from Pantera to Strapping Young Lad, from Slipknot to Meshuggah. The truth is, while of course being huge fans of all the aforementioned, Insense doesn’t sound like any of them.
Insense started out as a technical metal outfit in 1999 and has slowly but surely refined their sound, via a very aggressive second record, to the more modern Insense sound of technically impressive riffs and melodic desperation. With ever growing confidence, Insense presents De:Evolution, the fifth installment with 14 tracks of desperate aggression.
