The blackened progressive metal gem Dreamarcher release the second single from their coming album "The Bond" (due Sep 27th). The new single "Black Water" is a dark and dreamy track.
Local inspiration and international sound meet in Dreamarcher's dark and beautifull post-metal. The band about the single:
"Black Water is a song about the late Albert Petersson, developer of the Alby-furnace and director of the first factory in Odda, Norway. He was loved among the locals and known as a very kind man that wanted only the best for his workers and the local community.
In 1914, during the start of WWI he left Odda on a boat to discuss an unknown matter with his superiors in England. When the boat arrived in Bergen the next day, he was no where to be seen. We know little about why and how he disappeared, but there are many different theories. Black Water plays with some of these theories, and the title states one of the only certain facts we know about Albert Petersson's disappearance; his resting place is somewhere in the black waters of the Hardanger fjord."
With their extensive collective of melodic and screaming vocals, and their mixture of hard-hitting darkness and dreamy ambience, they skilfully balance the abrasive with beauty and sensitivity. They blend the romanticized, dreamy, ambient and beautiful with the dark, industrial, concrete and hideous. Inspired by their hometown Odda, their music, artwork and lyrics reflects a small industrial town surrounded by majestic nature, fjords and glaciers.
Lyrics for Black Water:
When the engine sleeps
I can hear my heart beat
I’ve been waiting for this night
My breath tastes cyanamide
As I watch it fall
This city echoes
In these empty halls
But overseas the sirens call
Now it's way too late
So I’ll say goodbye
I trudge through carbide dust
And leave our chamber here to rust
Black coke
Will hide me in its smoke
Futures burn
In the furnace of the workless
I couldn´t get these hands to help me
I couldn´t get these hands
Taken by surprise
I’m a case so cold
A story still untold
Did I drown from fame
Or killed for their game?
Was I there alone
Or with someone we both know
Now a monument of stone
I’ll live forever
I couldn´t get these hands to help me
I couldn´t get these hands
Taken by surprise
Like a stone in the sea
Black water buries me
Ballast
Drifting at sea
Treasure that won´t be found
Ægir
Pulls me down
Ballast
Treasure that won´t be found
Graveyard for me and you
Ballast
Secrets In salt
Ocean hides me away
Like a stone in the sea
Black water buries me
I couldn´t get these hands to help me
I couldn´t get these hands
Taken by surprise
It is here in the deep
You´ll find my body sleeps
